To set up the Align Vertices shortcut you will need to find the category "Menu|Selected". Next you will click on a little box that is about in the center of the Configuration window that says "Customize shortcut keys". You can change or create shortkeys by first clicking on Keyboard. A really useful shortcut that I use is Align Selected Vertices. For example my lines are white instead of pink or whatever they were, and my background is a dark grey.
